Water Park Sickness...
Water parks are a fun family vacation destination.
Although the water is treated with chemicals to reduce to spread of disease, there are still opportunities for pathogens (germs causing disease) to grow.
Particularly present is a parasite called cryptosporidium, which lives in water including chlorinated water for up to 10 days.
Symptoms include: watery diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever, and stomach cramps/pain. If you or your child experiences these symptoms after visiting a water park, you should be seen by a medical professional.
For more information, search “Cryptosporidium” at www.cdc.gov.
